Paly choir hosts raffle to support summer trip to Europe

Palo Alto High School's choir is organizing a raffle to help support the 70-member choral group. Tickets sold will give aid to students who are having trouble paying for the choir's 11-day summer trip to Budapest, Prague and Vienna.

At 6 p.m. in the evening the Boston Market in Palo Alto is deserted, aside from the few who have taken it upon themselves to catch the early bird special. Amidst the stranded crowds of patrons a group begins to form in the back of the restaurant surrounding Scrabble boards, which have been set up on a few select tables. As the members of Palo Alto’s Scrabble Club settle into their respective positions and begin calculating their possible word combinations an eerie silence befalls the group, broken by the sound of laughter and jeers from the players.

Paly student creates non-profit to aid Haitian education

When the earthquakes struck Haiti on Jan. 12, 2010, millions of people all over the world rushed to help one of the world’s poorest nations by sending food, money and first aid supplies. Palo Alto High School junior Nittai Malchin responded in his own way; By founding his own non-profit initiative, OneLove Advocates.
