Subject:grape allergy/citric acid?
Comment:

Grape allergy sufferers, you are not alone. My 2 year old son has a reaction to white grape juice (he won't eat raw grapes) but seems to be fine with the purple stuff. The only other ingredient that is different in the 2 juices is citric acid (it's in the white). This is in other foods he eats and he seems OK with most. All around his eyes get very red right away. The redness stays and by the next day it turns into little bumps that look like ecxema postules. It takes over a week for the redness and itching to fully go away. He also reacts similarly to fruit snacks that contain grape juice of any kind. They also have citric acid. His other allergies go on and on, but they are mostly reactions to raw foods (mostly fruits from a tree) also celery, carrot, soy, peanuts, eggs, thyme, rosemary, feathers, dogs, cats. Good news is that his allergies to many of these (minus the fruit and spice allergies and eggs) have improved greatly based on skin tests. I think allergies can come and go. Best advice is to just stay away and write a very specific list of foods you know you can eat and stick with it. Trying something new or risky while you are away from home has proven never to be good idea!
